Sharon Meieran

ER doctor, County Commissioner 2017 to 2024
  • Doctor and lawyer. Practiced law for seven years, then started medical school at UCSF at 30 and trained in emergency medicine.
  • Portland ER physician. Worked in local emergency rooms and served as Medical Director for the Oregon Foundation for Reproductive Health.
  • Eight years on the County Commission. Focused on mental health and addiction reform, homelessness, public health, and government accountability.
  • Why she ran. The ER showed her that homelessness, mental illness, and public safety need systems-level change, beyond what one physician can do.
